Art Gallery Internship
Please note: This internship has potential to turn into a Gallery Assistant position.
Qualifications:
- BA in Art History or Fine Art
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Written and spoken Mandarin a plus
- Works well in a team oriented environment
- Awareness and interest in Chinese contemporary art
- Professional demeanor
- Meticulous and extreme attention to detail
The interns duties involve working closely with our Director and Assistant Directors. The intern is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day gallery operation runs smoothly. Duties would include (but are not limited to) the following:
-gallery reviews of new artists
-updating files
-gallery openings and planning
-gallery maintenance
-researching artists
-writing press releases
-online research
-handling art
We believe this internship can help someone as a stepping stone to other art related work or as a way of helping an artist with their career by understanding the workings of a gallery. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in the art world.
This internship is for three months and the stipend is for $10 per day (this is to cover your travel and lunch) which will be paid at the end of each month. We ask that you are available and are willing to make the commitment for the entire three months before we would consider you for this position.
You are required to work from 11:30 am - 7:00 p.m. for two to three days per week, choosing from Monday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. It is important that you be here on time and remain for the duration of the day for those times you have agreed to work. It is only through this level of commitment that you can gain access and insight into the inner workings of our gallery.
